Chef: Valeria Cristina VASILESCU Conacul lui Maldăr is a portal to the old Oltenia of the noble boyars – stylish, generous, and welcoming with guests. Just as the décor, coherent down to the smallest detail, the culinary proposition of traditional recipes and some interesting twists proves a great interest for taste – trout with walnuts and dill, nettles with horseradish and baked polenta sticks, pork in a fresh herb sauce. All in a short menu, which changes daily from lunch to dinner, giving the feeling of a place that makes use of every bit of the local, seasonal produce. Drinks are just as authentic and well represented – liqueurs, various brandies, juices and fruit compotes –, and tasting menu evenings are themselves a reason to come here.
