L'avis de Gault&Millau
On the ground floor of The Ark, Bucharest’s refurbished Custom House, you will find Ivan Pescar, a Danube Delta themed restaurant that embodies the vision of bringing local tradition into contemporaneity. To keep it authentic, the kitchen is run in turns by cooks native of the Delta, who usually work in the homonymous restaurant in Tulcea. The menu is all fish, cooked in the tradition of the region: hearty soups, smoked, fried, boiled, baked or seared on the griddle. Most of the wines are also regional. The design also features local elements and pays an homage to legendary rower Ivan Patzaichin, whose boats and paddles are prominently placed just outside the dining room.
