The name, the holiday atmosphere in shades of white and blue, and of course the menu make MEZE an authentic Greek tavern, recreated in the center of Bucharest. The countless starters – this true institution of Greek cuisine called “meze” – combine various star ingredients – olives and olive oil, feta or halloumi cheese, eggplants and zucchinis –, and are meant to fill a table and to be shared. Main dishes naturally include the moussaka with beef from Holomondas, grilled lamb chops from Sikia, and dishes based on fish from the Aegean Sea. The menu is consistent down to desserts, including the famous baklava, but also portokalopita. All to be enjoyed with a shot of ouzo, or of the less famous mastiha.
