Small, without any design frills and with a prompt but not overly emotional service (the turnover at lunch times wouldn’t permit it), Pasaj is another restaurant in Sibiu focused mainly on food. The menu is concise and reunites local and international dishes plus pizza, with an inclination to use and specify local produce. The goulash soup is truly spicy, and the Angus beef ribs are a meal on themselves. The soft meat is accompanied by an intensely flavored demi-glace sauce, baked carrots, a salad – and, as if it wasn’t already enough, a sauerkraut pie. The wine list offers some nice surprises from northern Greece, Santorini, Tuscany, as well as Argentina, Chile, and New Zealand.
